1940 ~ 2013
On June 10, 2013 Lorraine passed away peacefully at East Gate Lodge at the age of 72 years. Lorraine will be missed by her husband John (Jack) Dillabough, son John (Brenda), daughter Cheryl Bush (Bob), grandchildren Brad, Jonathan, Stevie and Scott, brother Ed (Diane) Stevenson, sister Eleanor (Rick) Robson along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Ellen and Charles Stevenson, brother Bill and son in-law Bryan Price.
Lorraine was born in Rivers, MB. She attended Queen Elizabeth School in Winnipeg. After high school she worked as a clerk at Great West Life. This is where she was introduced to Jack by his sister Eleanor who also worked there. Lorraine and Jack were married in 1961 and were fortunate to have 51 years together. Lorraine kept working until their son John was born in 1965. In 1968 another blessing came into their life, a daughter Cheryl. Lorraine and Jack moved to Vancouver in 1968 and returned to Winnipeg in 1972, followed by moving to the farm in 1975. In 1976, Lorraine along with 2 of her friends, started Busy Buddies Nursery School in Garson/Tyndall which succeeded for over 20 years.
Lorraine was a fun, loving person. She had a great sense of humour and always loved a joke. Her greatest love was her family. She loved sports and watching her children play them. She attended every home and away game they played. You can imagine how many hockey and ringette games that was. With Jack and all their friends, she enjoyed many weiner roasts in the pit and Sand Hills. Lorraine enjoyed her hobbies, which included card games, scrabble, knitting, gardening, baking and cooking.
Lorraine was in East Gate Lodge for many years. The staff and residents became very good friends. We consider East Gate Lodge Staff her second family. We knew that she was cared for greatly. The family would like to thank previous and current staff for all their care and support throughout the years.
A Memorial Service will be held for Lorraine on Monday, June 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour, MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200-6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
Offer Condolence for the family of Phyllis “Lorraine” Dillabough (nee Stevenson)
