Robert Douglas Dick, aged 71 years of Pinawa, Manitoba, passed away peacefully at Whitemouth Personal Care Home in Whitemouth on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, after a courageous battle with ALS.
Robert will be sorely missed and his memory cherished by his children, Douglas (Bev) Dick, Nancy (Ben) Chapel, his mother Eleanor Flockton, his grandchildren Madison, Aidan, and Riley, and many other extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 44 years Doreen Dick, sister Carol Nicholson, father Douglas Dick, and stepfather Thomas Flockton.
Robert was born on July 22, 1940 in Lachine, Quebec. He met his beloved wife Doreen and married in 1963. Shortly afterwards he moved to Manitoba where he began his career as an Electrical Technician with Manitoba Hydro. Some of the pastimes he enjoyed were sailing, gardening, curling, and golf. In his retirement years he faithfully supported his wife Doreen as she fought a battle with ALS. Robert will be remembered for his work ethic, his dedication to his wife Doreen, and for his kindness and generosity.
The family would like to extend thanks to the staff at Whitemouth Personal Care home for the excellent care extended during his stay.
Family and friends may attend a graveside funeral service was held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Pinawa Cemetery with Reverend Robert J. Murray officiating. A luncheon took place immediately afterward at 1:30 PM at the Pinawa Golf Club.
In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations in his memory may be made to ALS Society of Manitoba, 493 Madison St, Winnipeg MB R3J 1J2.
