May 18, 1935 ~ April 9, 2011
It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Roméo Bruneau on April 9th, 2011. Predeceased by his parents Émile and Flora, sister Lisa and brothers Donat and Oril. He leaves to mourn, Lucille, his loving wife of 51 years, son Guy (Collette), daughter Élise (Bart Zolinski), son Réjean (Liane) and two brothers, Maurice (Lucie) and Trefflé. Dad also leaves behind to cherish his memory, 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dad was a man with a great love of nature who spent many years picking wild rice up north and fishing at every opportunity. He was an avid hunter and trapper and spent lots of time on his quad doing both. He especially enjoyed his moose hunting expeditions with his sons. Farming was another one of his passions and he was always the first one at the gate when he was needed. Cutting firewood was something else he really enjoyed and was always a couple years ahead in his supply.
He loved his family and was never happier than when we were all together, which usually led to games of horseshoes or cards. He was very competitive and many a night was spent laughing and playing with family and friends. He will be missed.
The funeral mass will be held at St. Georges Church on Saturday, April 16th, 2011 at 1 pm, preceded by prayers at 12:30 with Father Guillaume Mabilu officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200-6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
