1937 ~ 2015
Ruby Adele Steffan (nee Trask) loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt and dear friend, passed away suddenly at her home on July 6, 2015.
Ruby was born in Amabel, Bruce County, Ontario on February 23rd, 1937. In 1954, she moved with her parents and seven siblings to the Lac du Bonnet area. She spent the better part of the next twenty years working as a librarian at AECL in Pinawa, Manitoba. In the early 1970s, Ruby bravely took some driving lessons, bought herself a brand-new red Datsun, and aimed it for Toronto. She continued to work for AECL, meeting her Prince Charming, Bernie, on a double date in the Big Smoke. Shortly thereafter, they were married and she dragged him out west, where they converted her childhood church into their dream home. With their precious cat and dog, they enjoyed the rest of Bernie’s life until he passed away in 1999. Ruby moved into Lac du Bonnet proper shortly thereafter, and spent the rest of her life in the company of her beloved family (both two and four-legged).
Ruby’s infectious smile, loving presence, kind heart, and fabulous cooking will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her siblings Kathy, Wayne, Shirley, Bev and Mary and many adoring nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Bernie; parents, Alex and Olive; brothers Keith, Glen, and Roy; and many other loved ones.
We invite you to join us to celebrate Ruby’s life on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Cross in Lac du Bonnet. A luncheon will immediately follow the service with internment in the Lac du Bonnet Cemetery taking place at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
Offer Condolence for the family of Ruby Adele Steffan (nee Trask)
