February 27, 1925 ~ September 29, 2020
On September 29, 2020, peacefully in his sleep, Rudy was called home to his Lord and Saviour.
Left to mourn his passing is his loving wife of 70 years, Wilma; his children: Lyla (Bob), Ready, Percy (Carol) Nikodem and Leanne (Terry) Early; grandchildren: Dustin, Carmen, Jennifer, Brandy, Candice, Crystal, Rachelle, Olivia and Parker; good friend, brother-in-law and card partner Wilbert Schmidtke; 13 great grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Gordon and Joan Otto and Henry and Audrey Schmidtke; along with many nieces and nephews.
Dad was predeceased by his parents Bill and Jenny Nikodem, sister Barbara, and brother Ted in infancy.
Dad and Mom started their life together on the farm in Glenfields and in 1980, they built their new home and moved to Tyndall. During this time, Dad worked for the Town of Beausejour, retiring in 1993, and a few years later moved to Beausejour.
Dad was a man very involved in the community, volunteering his time. He loved to tell stories, jokes, and dance. He especially loved his family, and having everyone over. Mobility issues didn’t stop Rudy, as he could be seen ripping up the town on his red scooter. He loved his scooter, it gave him freedom, and he’d always come home with a story.
As per Rudy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Under normal circumstances, we would have loved to celebrate Rudy’s life with the community he loved, but due to Covid-19, a small service for immediate family was held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, PO Box 968, Beausejour, MB R0E 0C0.
