May 18, 1936 ~ September 28, 2023
Peacefully on September 28, 2023 with her family by her side, Shirley was called home to be joined with her husband Frank and her dog Babes in heaven.
She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Tracy (Mark) Glanville, grandchildren Joey Keller, Charles (Elina) White, David Goletz, Ivan (Kali) Goletz, Scott Keller and Todd Keller. Her great grandchildren Avea, Tyson, Owen, Phoenix, Nova, Kiera and Dean.
She is predeceased by her husband Frank, son Leslie Wayne Keller, great grandson Will Goletz, sisters Bev Ferguson, Grace Olafson, Lois Hanslip, Deloris Klatt, brother Morris Folster and her parents Archie & Annie Folster.
Shirley met Frank, the man of her dreams, in 1964 while waitressing at a restaurant in Selkirk. They were to be married in April of 1966. In 1967 they would purchase a farm in Gull Lake Manitoba where they would put down their roots and raise their children.
She loved raising the chickens and cows on the farm. Gardening, cooking, baking and making preserves was Shirley’s passion. She would make everything from Chinese food, Currie Chicken to Jams, pies, tarts, loaves and Icelandic cake.
In 1980 they would move to Beausejour where they would spend the remainder of their days. Shirley became active with the Beausejour Legion where she would spend most of her time. The Beausejour Legion even made her Sargeant of Arms. This is an honour she was extremely proud of. She would spend her time being involved with the Beausejour Ladies Auxiliary, where she made many friends.
Spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, was an opportunity she would never miss out on.
We would like to thank Dr. Hanna and the staff at the Beausejour Hospital for keeping Shirley comfortable in her last weeks and providing comfort to all her family.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Ave. E, in Beausejour, MB. Interment will follow in the Beausejour Town Cemetery.
Donations may be made in Shirley’s memory to Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 4G2.
Offer Condolence for the family of Shirley Elaine Keller (nee Folster)
