With family at his side, Sid Thompson of Lac du Bonnet, passed away peacefully at Pinawa Hospital.
He was predeceased by Eileen, his wife of almost 45 years, on January 29, 2012; his parents, Sidney and Jean Thompson, and his in-laws, George and Yvonne Smith.
Sid will be forever remembered by his family who will always cherish their many years together. He leaves to mourn his passing his loving daughter, Julie Thompson; sisters – Lila Charles (Lethbridge), Ora Dunbar (Oakville, MB), Heather Berry (Winnipeg) and Jackie Steptoe (Kamloops); many nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as many wonderful friends and neighbors.
Thoroughly enjoying his retirement years on Westview Drive, Sid was happiest when puttering in his garage, helping a neighbor or “supervising” someone else’s project. Sid was always willing to lend a hand, make up a part or share his skills and knowledge. Everyone will greatly miss the “Thompson Hardware Store,” otherwise known as Sid’s garage, which almost always had what you needed, free of charge.
A very special thank you to Pinawa Hospital staff for their compassionate care and support during Sid’s last two months. Your care helped to ease the family’s minds. Thank you also to the many people who came to visit Sid while he was in the hospital.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Sid’s life will take place on Saturday, June 27, at 1:00 pm at Sobering Funeral Chapel in Beausejour, MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Sid’s memory may be made to the Pinawa Hospital Palliative Care, PO Box 220, Pinawa MB R0E 1L0.
