He is also survived by his siblings Len, Bill (June), Ken (Peggy), Evelyne (John), Lenore, and Joan (Larry) as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Stan grew up in Ste. Anne, MB. which is also where he and Joan met during the 1950 flood when she had to leave Winnipeg to go stay with relatives there. They were married in 1951 and settled in St. Vital, MB. where together they raised four children. The family attended Faith Lutheran Church in St.Vital for many years and Dad & Mom had a lot of great friends there. Dad had a great tenor voice and loved to sing in the church choir. Dad worked for Coca -Cola for about 10 years, and he also worked for Versatile for many years where he was foreman of the swather line. Stan and Joan enjoyed the outdoors, loved to go camping with the kids, and later on had a cottage at Lee River which Dad and David built together. They lived in several different communities: Hadashville for 7 years, Lethbridge, Alberta for 2 ½ years, and then back to Winnipeg. They eventually ended up in Beausejour where they built a house just south of town and lived there until they sold it 2 ½ years ago and settled into apartment living. While in Beausejour, Dad & Mom attended St. John Lutheran Church south of town near their home. Dad had a long and healthy life until near the end.
A special thanks to all the hospital staff at Beausejour Hospital who took such great care of Stan!
Cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 26 at St. John Lutheran Church, Lydiatt with Rev. Don Reimer officiating. Interment will follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations in Stan’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7.
Rest In Peace Stan, Dad & Grandpa.
You will forever be in our
thoughts & hearts.
