It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who passed away at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre on May 28, 2024 at the age of 99 years.
Stella will be sadly missed by her children, Judy (Denis) and Tom (Linda), her grandchildren Kate (Matt) and Jeff, and her great grandchildren, Van and Henry. Stella will also be sadly missed by her second family Sandra (Peter), Janice (Ron), Ron (Karen), Sharon (Tony) and their families, sister-in-law Adele Garbolinski, nieces and nephews and their families, as well as numerous extended family members and lifelong friends who held a special place in her heart.
Stella was predeceased by her husbands Nick and Victor, her son Alan, her parents Maria and Michael Woligroski and her siblings William, Harry, Teenie, Anne, Lena, Mary, and Mike.
Stella was born on May 20th, 1925 in Lowland, Manitoba to Michael and Mary Woligroski. She was the youngest of 8 siblings.
Family meant the world to her. She loved hosting large family gatherings with lots of food, conversation, and laughter. Stella loved to cook and bake and there was always food and desserts to be shared. She was especially known for her borscht, perogies and cabbage rolls.
Stella was an avid walker, slayed her opponents in pickle ball until ninety. Loved to sing in the choir and line dance to country music. She was happiest when she started and ended her day with a game of cards. Stella loved to travel and her travels took her to the Ukraine, Florida, Los Angeles, Hawaii and on numerous Caribbean Cruises.
Faith was an important part of Stella’s life. She was a devout parishioner of the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church where she was a member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League; her deep and enduring faith gave her strength and comfort.
The family would like to thank the Emergency Room staff at Health Sciences Centre, and the doctors, nurses and staff at Selkirk Regional Health Centre for the compassionate care they provided while Stella was in their care.
We would also like to thank the staff at East Gate Lodge Personal Care Home for their kindness and for taking such good care of Stella.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5 at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour with interment to follow in Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.
