It is with deepest sadness that the family announces the passing of Stella Klym, beloved mother and grandmother on Monday, February 3, 2014 at the Beausejour District Hospital. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 year Peter in 2003, infant son John, parents Jacob and Anna, her siblings Nellie, Nick, Paul, Josie, Helen, Mary and Stanley.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son Barry (Rosemarie); daughters Cheryl (Jim) Urbanski and Bev (Brian) Schreyer; grandchildren Angie Klym (Leland); Erin Klym-Massey (Marcel); Jennifer and Kristin Urbanski; Craig Schreyer (Kaitlan), as well as her brother Jim.
Stella was born in the R.M. of Brokenhead on May 6, 1928 to Jacob and Anna Hlady, the youngest of nine children. Mom attended Green Oak School in her childhood years.
She married Peter on September 28, 1946 and they spent 56 years together until dad’s passing in 2003. Mom continued to remain on the farmstead and picked up where Dad left off until her demise.
For a short period after their marriage Dad and Mom lived in Kenora, ON, where she worked in the Kenora Hospital. In the spring of 1947 they returned to the farmstead which they built together and raised their three children. Mom sang with Dad in the St. Demetrius Church, was a custodian for Bonar Law School and worked with catering.
Mom’s life was busy with cooking, baking, canning, gardening, sewing as well as performing all other farm related tasks. No job was too big or too small, and she gave it her all. Mom treated anyone who dropped by with her hospitality. Considering mom’s age, she prided herself of being able to snow clear her own yard with the tractor until most recently.
Mom was a hardworking and dedicated woman who was always there for her family. It is now her time for rest.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 8 at 1:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour with interment at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation; Beausejour District Hospital or a charity of one’s choice.
