It is with broken hearts that we share the sudden and unexpected passing of our beloved husband, dad, brother, uncle and friend, Terry Komadowski, on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
Terry is survived by his wife Sherry, daughter Megan, twin brother Danny and sister Tami (Jim), nephews Randy (Karl) and David (Sydney) and great niece Evelyn. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Dennis (Gertie) Zieske and Billy Zieske and their families, as well as many relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Florian and Dianna Komadowski, grandmother Irene Grenick, in-laws Alfred and Lillian Zieske, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Larry, Connie and Eleanor Zieske.
Terry was born in Beausejour, Manitoba on February 4, 1963, 7 minutes after his brother Danny. He always said he kicked Danny out first. Growing up on the family farm he helped with the many chores, from feeding pigs, milking cows, cleaning barns to bailing hay.
He attended school in both Garson and Beausejour, completing grade 12 at Edward Schreyer School in 1981. Following high school, he worked at Canada Packers and Genstar Construction. He then enrolled in the Construction Electrician Apprenticeship program at Red River Community College graduating in 1993. He worked for several electrical companies over the years, one being in Banff where he resided from October 1992 to April 1993. In 2002 he changed professions, becoming the custodian at Gillis School in Tyndall. He enjoyed working with the staff and kids, making many lasting friendships.
Terry met Sherry (yes it rhymes) in high school in 1980. Every weekend his 1973 blue Satellite Sebring could be seen heading north on Highway 12, on his way to pick up Sherry. Together they shared each other’s lives for 44 years, only recently celebrating 35 years of marriage on July 22.
They purchased their first home in Tyndall and lived there for the first 12 years. In 2004 they built a new home out in the country on his great grandmother’s farm. This was Terry’s wonderland. Bush to roam, deer to hunt, paths to walk, the great outdoors! Even with the early onset of Parkinson’s Disease, Terry never gave up! He continued to enjoy his hikes, bike rides, and hunting to the very end.
In 2001, Terry and Sherry were blessed with the birth of their daughter Megan. She was the joy of his life and he loved her beyond words. From small to big, he supported her in any event and adventure she undertook. He was her biggest fan, watching her perform at dance recitals and cheerleading competitions. He always offered words of encouragement and advice even when she did not really want to hear them. He loved her many FaceTime calls, while she was living abroad. He would listen and smile as she told us of her adventures and how her week had been, all the while missing her deeply.
Terry, thank you for being a part of all our lives. We will miss you deeply and will never be forgotten. We will carry the love you gave us forever in our hearts.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Sobering’s Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue East, Beausejour, MB.
