Victor Worona

March 28, 1937 — March 28, 2016

1937 ~ 2016

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Victor Worona on January 10, 2016.  His memory will be forever cherished by his loving wife, Agnes (Fiebelkorn) of 55 years, his daughters, Pam (Scott), Jackie (Tim), and Natalie (Blair), his grandchildren, Evan and Kate, Loren and Brenna, Ashton and Courtney, and dear friend, Julian Woligroski.

He is survived by his brothers, Edward (Elsie), Walter (Audrey), Cazmir (Evelyn), Clarence, and his sister, Lillian (Kurt).  He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Mary (Chrusch), stepfather, Conrad, and his siblings, Hendry, and Alice, both in infancy.

Victor was born on the farm in Lowland, MB on June 2, 1937.  He attended Woodrow School then completed a machinist apprenticeship with CN Railway.

He joined his brother, Walter in operating Highway Motors in Lac du Bonnet.  Later, his two brothers, Edward and Cazmir joined them in building Worona Brothers ltd. Ford dealership where they served the community and surrounding areas for a total of 45 years.

He was a consummate businessman who took care of his customers and was known for his honesty and integrity, making many friendships along the way.

He worked long hours at the dealership but still found time to enter into a farming operation with his brothers, creating Worona Farms, which also involved their wives and children working together on the fields.

Victor’s business acumen led him to serve on many boards including the Board of Directors for the Manitoba Motor Dealers Association, councilor for Lac du Bonnet, Board of Directors responsible for bringing Veterinarian Services to Lac du Bonnet, and Board of Directors for Sunova Credit Union.  He was a member of the Lions’ Club and served many terms on Church Council for the Lutheran Church of the Cross where he was instrumental in building the present Church.

He wanted to see the world!  There were trips all over Canada, U.S.A. and Europe.  He instilled the love of travel in his children and grandchildren because of the many trips with him and mom.

But he was probably happiest camping with his family.  Otter Falls holds a special place in our hearts as we spent countless weekends together there.

While being very generous with his time for others, Victor’s dedication was truly to his family.  His love was evident for his wife and he showed it daily throughout their 55 years.  He always supported and helped his three daughters in large and small ways, which spoke of his love for his girls.

His capacity to love only grew with the arrival of all six of his grandchildren.  They knew without a doubt that they were loved and there was always time for an ice cream or freezie, a chat, and getting lost with their papa.

He always listened intently, sharing his insight and words of advice, but realizing that it was up to his children and grandchildren to make their own life decisions.  His greatest gifts were his acceptance of each one of us, and his ability to love us as individuals.

He lived a very full life and our hearts are filled with gratitude for having Victor with us as a loving husband, father and papa for so many years.

Special thank you to the Adult Day Program.  He enjoyed his time there with everyone. A Heartfelt thank you to the health care aides, nurses and all the staff at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home who cared so lovingly for him and for the family.

In lieu of flowers, please honour Victor with donations to the Alzheimer’s Society.

A celebration of Victor’s life will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lac du Bonnet Community Centre.
