It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Walter Staniul on Friday, July 17, 2015 after a lengthy illness.
Walter was born February 4, 1936 in Winnipeg, MB. Walter was preceded by his loving wife of 51 years, Gayle Staniul three years earlier. Walter and Gayle moved to Tyndall, MB in 1975 where they made many long lasting friends. Walter worked as a blacksmith for CP Rail for 40 years and made many lifelong friends there as well. He also for many years was involved in the community with local hockey, mainly with the Jr. B Comets as a manager and trainer.
Walter leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved son Michael and wife Tina, grandchildren Tiffany, Mathew, Matraisa, and Robert. Daughter Colleen and husband Darryl, grandchildren, Austin, Logan and Parker. He also leaves behind to mourn his brother Ron and sister in-law Arlene and nephews Scott and Dylan and their wives and their children, sister in-law Judy Danchuk and partner Nick, nephew Kevin and his daughter Kasandra.
The family wishes to express their thanks to the Beausejour Hospital staff and the Selkirk homecare field staff for their compassion and kindness during this difficult time.
There will be a Celebration of Walter’s life at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22 at the Tyndall Community Club.
In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the Beausejour Hospital free TV Fund.
