Wendy passed away on Nov. 21, 2024 at the age of 61. Wendy was born on March 16, 1963 in Selkirk, Mb to proud parents Doreen and Cecil Luining. Known for her infectious laugh and a smile that would light up a room, Wendy had many friends growing up on Taylor Ave.
Wendy loved bringing joy to residents as a health care aide then an activities assistant at Red River Place. She provided foster care, creating a loving home & relationships that continued until they grown and had families of their own.
Wendy met the love of her life Bryan Ross and they wed after a whirlwind internet romance. They loved spending time together; camping, riding motorcycles and going on road trips with their dog Pepper to B.C. until Bryan’s untimely death. We can picture you two now dancing together in heaven!
Wendy loved to travel, going with Mom and Dad to Branson, to Hawaii & Isreal with lifelong friend Lisa and then to Cuba and Mexico with friends and family.
Wendy enjoyed being outdoors and spent much time swimming, gardening and having coffee in the gazebo at the cabin in Gull Lake then later many barbeques with friends on her deck at her home.
Wendy was always generous and never hesitated to meet a need, whether it was taking people into her home until they got back on their feet, sending a big pot of homemade soup, or giving away household items.
Wendy is survived by sister Brenda Dillabough and brother Reg Luining. While Wendy didn’t have children of her own, she was always the cool and funny Auntie “Wee” and cherished times were spent with nieces Lexi, Kaylee (Trevor), and Deena (Jonah) and nephews Jess (Cat), Dylan (Ade) and Brook and great nieces & nephews (Olivia & Ellie, Jade & James). The eldest, Brook was like a son to Wendy; many hours were spent binge watching Netflix, playing video games and hanging out.
The last few years had many health challenges for Wendy, but her faith in God never waivered and this is kept her strong. Wendy told us that she had peace knowing God was with her and that her beloved Bryan, Mom and Dad were waiting for her in heaven.
A big thank you to June and all the home care staff that took such good care of her. Our sincere appreciation to our dear friends Colleen Purvis and Lisa Knight who always stayed by her side as well as Larry and Gail for being the best neighbours ever.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
