December 14, 1945 ~ January 30, 2023
With great sadness we announce the passing of Bill Brenko on Monday, January 30, 2023 at the age of 77 at his home in Powerview-Pine Falls, MB.
Honouring Bill’s wishes, there will be no formal service, and cremation has taken place.
As time passes, so do people. We hope that when we approach our end of life, that we are regarded as caring, loving, and respected human beings.
Bill is survived and missed by cousins in B.C., Manitoba & Ontario. He was predeceased by his parents, William (Bill) & Victoria (Vickie), and brother Leon (Lonnie), along with aunts, uncles, and grandparents.
In his early years, Bill grew up in the North End of Winnipeg, on Pritchard Avenue. As time went on, he attended Sisler High School in Winnipeg where he completed his Grade 12 education. He then followed an interest in drawing and painting & enrolled in the Fine Arts program at the University of Manitoba. He produced some excellent work in this area.
He pursued a career as a professional sales representative working for many well-known companies. He did very well in this occupation which lead him to many opportunities to travel. For a major part of his life, he resided in White Rock, B.C. in late 1980’s & well into the 1990’s where he enjoyed many good times with his cousin, Steve.
After living in the big cities, Bill returned to the family home in Pine Falls to become a full-time caregiver to his parents, William (Bill) & Victoria at their request. He became accustomed to country life and the peace and quiet it delivered. He devoted the remaining years of his life to caring & helping his parents until their passing. He prioritized their needs well above his own. He enjoyed many happy times with family & friends.
He had many interests such as cooking; particularly his famous homemade french fries, 50’s & 60’s music, classic cars, poetry, fishing, watching bomber games, movies; namely, The Lethal Weapon Series & The God Father, and was an avid reader of fiction, action & mystery novels. He had spent many memorable fishing trips in Dauphin River, Pine Falls & Lockport with his cousins Rick, Steve & Uncle Tony. He was also well versed in current events.
He was a very supportive, humble, intelligent, & caring person. Selflessness and generosity were two traits that highlighted his personality. He would also take on the role of mentor with very strong values. In addition, he had a wicked sense of humour & told entertaining stories of his many adventures. Family was very important to him.
The family wishes to thank, for their friendship and caring, Bill’s friends, as follows: Jamie, a longstanding friend, wife and two sons who were always in his thoughts; James Spiers, the next door neighbour and his three sons, who were considered his family and caregivers; as well as, Keeker and his buddies at the garage.
He will be sadly missed by family & friends. He was also loved & fondly remembered by many family members from Windsor, Ontario.
“Rest in peace Bill”
Moments
Once in a moment of times, there lived a time of moments, where the hours came quick but the seconds, were a lifetime, and as the oceans will tell you….
Far better to live a Life of Moments, than to have the hours of your days, while away
