William (Bill) Sweet

1923 ~ 2012

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather, William (Bill) Sweet, on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Beausejour Hospital.  He is survived and loved by his daughters Dorothy (Bill), Debbie (Larry), Sharon (Brian) and Bev (Paul), daughter in-law Diana, son in-law Norman, his sister Muriel, his brother Herb, 12 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, many nieces, nephews and friends.  Dad was predeceased by his wife Marie, his parents Tom and Violet, his brother Lawrence, daughters Joan and Pat, son Lawrence, grandson Jeff, and son in-law Bob.

Dad was born in Winnipeg on January 14, 1923.  His family moved to Monominto when he was 5 and then to Ostenfeld at the age of 10 where he resided until now.  Dad and Mom were married in 1943 and lived on the farm together until Mom’s passing in 2003.

Dad loved to farm.  Right up until last year he was still driving the tractor to help Doug in the fields.  Dad also loved to dance and play cribbage.  He didn’t like to lose at crib, but if he did he was always happy as long as you didn’t skunk him.

We would like to thank the staff at Beausejour Hospital for their kindness and consideration to our Dad during his many stays and also to the family during our time of sorrow.  We were told they all loved him and will miss him.  Thanks also to Dr. Zeiler for looking after Dad all these years.

Funeral Service was held on Thursday, May 24 at 2:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour with viewing one hour prior to the service.
